26th October ROWAN BERRIES
The colours of these leaves and the berries combine to display
some of autumns best colours. Unfortunately I was out cycling at the
time when I took this photograph so I was unable to use my tripod (I
left it at home - too heavy!) but I feel that this fusion of leaves
and berries convey a lot of the atmosphere of this time of year.

19th October INVERVAR IN AUTUMN, GLEN LYON
This is an image where pre-visulasiation was the key.
I have had this image in mind for the last five years. As I
watched the autumn colours slowly change I knew that the time
had come to get this picture so I headed out to my viewpoint
and after about an hours wait the sun finally lit up the
foreground trees and I had my picture. I took about 20 variations
of this scene to ensure that I had the one I had imagined for so
long. I used Kodak film to ensure the yellows and reds were at
their best. Lens 28-135mm zoom with tripod and polariser.

12th October STALKER DRAGGING STAG
I spent about a month arounfd October as a ghillie
in helping drag stags of the hill. I had just switched
places with the stalker and felt that I needed an image
like this to complete my coverage of stalking in the highlands.
Whilst some might not agree with stalking red deer in the
UK I have come to feel that as well as an essential form
of employment in the highlands, that it is also our duty
to the environment to try and correct the wrongs we made.
If we hadnt destroyed the wolf we might live in a very
differnt Scotland. Lens 50mm f/1.8

5th October FOREST FLOOR
This small scene is one of those chance encounters that you
come across out of the blue but have to grab when the chance
arises. I was looking for pictures of autumn leaves and when I
reached a rather large chestnut tree I was dissapointed to see
that most of the leaves had already fallen. As I looked down to
see where they lay my eye was caught by the striking red Russula
fungus growing next to the leaves of a dog violet and the lichen
encrusted branch. I didnt touch a thing. I just set up my tripod
and photographed the scene as it lay.
