SHOOTING CLAYS
I attended a local clay pigeon shoot in Glen Lyon and overall I was very impressed by
the standard of shooting. Very few clays were missed. I spoke to one keeper who had hardly
missed a single clay and asked him if I could photograph him shooting. This was the exact
image I wanted with a view over his shoulder of a clay exploding into fragments and I needed
someone who almost always hit them. It would have been useful to have digital here as I
couldnt tell if I had the shot until I had had the slides processed.

GOLDEN SAXIFRAGE
Another member of the saxifrage family but this was taken in Glen Lyon. I liked the
subtle blend of colours between the green and gold but I also wanted to show the plant
within its habitat so I included part of the wall where the plant was growing.

PRIMROSES
These primroses were photographed on a very wet day in Glen Lyon. I was out in the
black wood looking for anything of interest when I came across these primroses seperated
by the diagonal birch branch. Due to the rain the scene was already hugely saturated with
colour so I set up my tripod and took several images at a low shutter speed with a small
aperture.

SAND SCULPTURES
I was out on the beach near bettyhill when I came across these unique sculptures
created by the wind and the drying of the sand. I was amazed at what I had found but
due to the akward conditions I only took a few photos. This is probably an effect
that only ever occurs on very windy beaches so I thought it was an approprite image
for displaying information on Caithness - its a windy place!
