"Andean
Flamingos, Bolivia, April 2006"
This image is about
preconception.
Before I departed for
my six week project to photograph flamingos in the Altiplano of
South America I wrote a long list of images that I hoped to capture
when I was out there. High on my list was behaviourial images
and amongst the behaviour I hoped to observe was fighting amongst
birds. I spent 4 days at this location and missed numerous shots
of similar subject but eventually I got the image I was after
- two birds squabbling over drinking space
However for me its
the uncluttered background, the splash of water at their feet
and the leg ring that really tells the story. Andean flamingos
are an endangered species so I was lucky to get this image at
all.
