OLD COTTAGE
I had been out taking pictures on a boat at John O Groats and on my return the light was
soo good that I decided to return via an alternative route that went around the back of the
Loch of Mey. On my way I spotted this beautiful old ston cottage surrounded by weeds and I
felt that it would be crete an interesting composition. I used this patch of dames violets together
with my 24mm lens to create this colourful image.

CRAZY SUNSET
I was walking my favourite route along the coast betweeb Rattar and Ham when I saw the clouds
building high in the sky and I knew that it would create an interesting sunset. Unfortunatly I
could also see a band of low cloud near the horizon and I knew this would obscure the final colours
of the setting sun. Therefor before the sun dropped too low I took this image with the 24mm lens
trying to dwarf the high cliffs of Dunnet head beneath this almighty sky.

ORCHIDS AND LIGHTHOUSE
Continuing my project and looking for different angles around the Dunnet head lighthouse, I bring you a
second image. This time I used my 24mm lens (fast becoming a favourite angle since I bought it)
and got really low to the ground with the sun backlighting these orchids. In the far distance you
can just see relief clouds rolling over the Orkney clifs.

DUNNET HEAD
Living so close to Dunnet head I have been very privileged to shoot it on many occassions and
in different guises. It has just about everything any photographer could ask for with a North,
South, East and West perspective, sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and plenty of wildlife.
Here I was trying to show that such a wilderness refuge as this was actually located amongst
fertile farmland.
