January 2005
A cold month of the year, January can often present some incredible opportunities for photography (if you are prepared to get cold!). I spent some time in Glen Lyon and was able to get some interesting images, my particular favourite has to be the frozen suspension bridge you can see below.

Suspension bridge, Glen Lyon

Taken in the morning following a particularly cold night, this image shows the fabulous effects that a hard winter frost can create. I used my 24mm lens to emphasise the receding shape of the brdge and took a variety of meter readings to try and get the contrast between the frozen bridge and the dark trees on the far bank.

Ben Lawers & Glen Lyon

Every year when I am up in Glen Lyon for Christmas I try and get a some images of the frozen landscape of the Glen. This year there was a heavy snowfall one night followed by strong winds the following day so I headed out early to try and capture some of the shifting light of the sky. I feel this image captures both the snow and the scudding clouds.

Misty dawn , Glen Lyon

One frozen dawn durng my time in Glen Lyon I headed out to get images of the mist which was settling across the floor of the glen. Looking back toward the pass of Glen Lyon I got this view of the frozen bracken and dawn light above the far hillside.

Sunset Otmoor.

Whilst carrying out some mammal surveying at Otmoor I was able to witness the great big ball of fire dropping out from beneath the clouds and reflecting into this area of flooded field.
