PICTURE OF THE MONTH: DECEMBER

Delayed as usual in updating the website I have finally got around to placing images from last year online!

Orchard, Harwell

Traveling to work at sunrise is a difficult thing to do, often you pass these fantastic scene of early morning light, mist rising of the river or trees covered in frost. Because of this I have taken to travelling with my camera in the car. This was one of those mornings when the early morning light was unmissable and this orchard provided an ideal contrast to work with.

Backlit reeds

I spent several early morning sessions by a lakeside photographing ducks and geese at dawn. After the sun had risen I wandered around the waters edge looking for interesting scenes in the early morning light, these reeds caught my attention with several levels of contrast in light and tone as well as the beautiful backlit texture.

This image was one of a portfolio entered into the 2005 BBC Wildlife photographer of the year.

Moonrise, Lincolnshire

The Hills and Holes reserve in Lincolnshire has become something of a regular haunt in spring for its fantastic array of beautiful flowers. This image was ltaken later in the year however as I searched for a suitable foreground for the moonrise. I am not happy with the composition however I feel it is work in progress.

Spuggy, Lincolnshire

I couldnt resist putting this image of this beautifully lit Spuggy onto the picture of the Month section. Whilst this image is nowhere near perfect the early yellow light gives the image wonderful warmth and as a study in the quality of early morning light it shows what can be achieved.
