This is a selection of images I took
in South America in 2003 whilst visiting the Altiplano in Bolivia.
It illustrates where the project idea came from. The first flamingo
I saw in South America was the stuffed one in a hut on the Uros
Islands in lake Titicaca. This intrigued me as I thought they were
protected species (they are) but later when I saw them wild in their
habitat high up in the stunning Altiplano I began to realise I would
have toreturn to really understand how they live.
The site I visited in Bolivia was Laguna
Colorada, a key site for breeding James' Flamingo's that receives
over 10,000 visitors a year.
